Avalanche Course

Our AIARE Level 1 avalanche course is designed as an introductory “stand-alone decision-makers course” for those planning on traveling and recreating in avalanche terrain. Our instructors are AIARE trained and qualified. The 24 hours of total course work focuses on the basic skills necessary to manage your risk in the winter backcountry setting.

Backcountry Tour

Try our human powered backcountry ski and splitboard, full day tours.  

This private tour can accommodate up to 4 guests. Pricing is $650 for a single guests and $250 for each additional guest up to a maximum of 4 guests total. Your total price will be figured on the checkout page. Listed price does not include gratuity for the guide.  

We do not have rental backcountry ski's, skin's, splitboards or boots. These will have to be rented at home or here locally. Depending on where you rent this gear, your cost can be anywhere from $50 to $100 additional. Let us know if you need to rent this gear here in Steamboat Springs and we will advise you where to go.

Level I

Skiers and snowboarders at this level are strong intermediates or advanced skiers/riders at ski areas across the world. If you have limited powder experience or do not like to ski/ride in the trees and prefer more open, gentle terrain then this should be the level for you.

Level I - Private Cat

Booking a Private Cat (up to 10 seats) allows your group the freedom to ski and ride deep powder snow at your group's own pace. If you wish to have an 11th guest, we can accommodate this request for a extra seat fee. Let us know after booking this private cat and we will add the extra seat.  

Skiers and snowboarders at this level are strong intermediates or advanced skiers/riders at ski areas across the world. If you have limited powder experience or do not like to ski/ride in the trees and prefer more open, gentle terrain then this should be the level for you.

Level II

Guests at this level can ski or ride at an up-tempo pace, are physically fit and already confident in their powder skills. Guests here can pop their powder turns and navigate thru tighter aspen forests. At any ski area, these guests actively search out powder and ski black and some double black diamonds ski runs.  

Our Level I and II terrain use the same pickups and drop-offs, accessing the same terrain. Our Level I trip is typically more open than our Level II as we do like to get into the trees with our Level II guests.

Many of our guests at this level have been on other heli or snowcat operations in the past and/or are active backcountry enthusiasts.
